Strategy Beats Tactics. Every Time. Here's The Math.

Most marketing plans start in the wrong place. Someone in the room says “let’s run some ads,” “let’s post more,” “let’s try TikTok,” and the team is off, executing tactics before anyone has answered the one question that actually determines whether any of it works: who, specifically, are we trying to hit?
Tactics without targeting isn’t strategy. It’s activity, and activity feels like progress right up until the invoice arrives and the results don’t match the effort.
Activity Isn’t Strategy
This is the trap that swallows more budget than any bad campaign ever will, because tactics without targeting aren’t really strategy at all, they’re activity. And activity feels like progress right up until the invoice arrives and the results don’t match the effort.
The Dartboard Problem
It’s like playing darts. With an unlimited amount of time and energy, you can eventually hit the bullseye. Throw enough darts, from any distance, in any direction, and probability alone guarantees a few will land dead center. But that wastes a lot of time, energy, and money.
Aim Before You Throw
Targeting is what turns a room full of dart throws into one confident shot. Strategy is the discipline of standing closer to the board, in the right lane, aimed at a bullseye you can actually see, before you ever pick up a dart.
